Re: Carnegie again

Quoting "S.Green" <2esses@adelphia.net>:

I think that too many people today try to get by the easiest way they
can -- hoping that the receiver will interpret and interpolate his
ideas accurately. Unfortunately, this fails to happen much to often.

Personally, I blame whoever thought it would be a good idea to name a file "workers-at-phil-fraley-productions-and-carnegie-museum-of-natural.html".
There's no good reason for this; as TinyURL shows, it's possible to create unique strings with far fewer characters. If the web designers took a leaf out of TinyURLs book, there'd be far less need for their service at all.

Bring back the days of 8-character DOS-compatible file names, I say... :)

As I wrote not too long ago, if DV had used TinyURL to shorten the URL that accompanied his message, it would have been easier for us to access the web site he referenced:

http://tinyurl.com/fdx3u (try it - it works!)

  -- instead of --

http://it.news.yahoo.com/07082006/38/immagine/workers-at-phi
    l-fraley-productions-and-carnegie-museum-of-natural.html

Its a good tool to learn to use -- and very easy!

Hmmmm.... Do you have shares in the company? ;-)
