  Virtually all models that argue that birds derive from dinosaurs argue that
birds were bipedal before-hand. The primary dichotomy is whether the animals
were climbers and descended in gliding or flapped to learn to fly, or ran to
flap its arms after prey to learn to fly. Both require bipedality preceeding
wings.
