DMNS Prehistoric Journey Keynote Lecture & Symposium (December 1st &
3rd)

For the past 10 years, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science's
award-winning exhibition Prehistoric Journey
<http://www.dmns.org/main/en/General/Exhibitions/CurrentExhibitions/Preh
istoric+Journey.htm> has taken millions of visitors on a tour through a
remarkable 3.5 billion years of life on Earth. To celebrate this success
and 10 years of paleontology, the Museum is holding a special symposium.
The celebration kicks off with a keynote lecture on Thursday, December
1, from dinosaur expert Dr. Paul Sereno. He is a professor at the
University of Chicago, a National Geographic explorer-in-residence, and
the president and cofounder of Project Exploration, an outreach
organization dedicated to bringing natural science education to girls
and city kids. As a dinosaur hunter, Paul has made major discoveries on
five continents and led dozens of expeditions. This dynamic speaker will
regale you with stories about his world travels and the scientific
significance of the dinosaurs his teams have found.
On Saturday, December 3, a symposium will feature presentations by seven
leading paleontologists from across the country. These speakers will
bring you up-to-date on the latest advances in the science of
paleontology, especially in the areas of marine invertebrates, marine
vertebrates, dinosaurs, mammals, and hominids. They are Drs. Jonathon
Bloch of the Florida Museum of Natural History, Linda Ivany of Syracuse
University, Zhe-Xi Luo of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History,
Ryosuke Motani of the University of California-Davis, Chris Sidor of the
University of Washington, David Strait of State University of New York
at Albany, and Jeff Wilson of the University of Michigan.
