Sure, 'mammal-like reptile' may not be technically correct, but if we
start correcting all biological misnomers we'd be busy indeed. 

Musk oxen are neither oxen, nor do they produce musk. Meercats aren't
related to cats, any more than aardwolves are related to wolves. And
don't get me started on Barbary apes...

If we wanted to get really specific, then the terms 'ornithopod' and
'theropod' would have to be swapped around. The theropods have the 'bird
feet', while the orithopods have the weird stumpy 'beast feet'.


In totally unrelated news - at the moment I'm watching an episode of
Catalyst where Dr John Long (now at the Museum of Victoria here in
Melbourne) is testing the bite strength of Thylacoleo. I just saw their
skull replica bite through a house brick, before they let it loose on a
kangaroo carcass. Can I hear a collective "Coooool!". :)
