This probably helps to account for the prevalence of illustrations of
heavily scaled 'pelycosaurs', which is something not supported by any
evidence that I'm aware of. Lower Permian synapsids were surely proud of
their glandular skin, and doubtlessly enjoyed admiring the glorious,
scale-free nakedness of their fellows and fellow-esses (according to their
individual inclinations).
