I think your sentence says it all. When there are evils committed by
commercial dealers, they deserved to be jumped on - as quickly as possible.
How about a little recognition when it's due.......this particular specimen
was made availble to Dr. Buffetaut by a commercial dealer, and is now
housed in a French museum.
I'll second that. I wish all commercial dealers would take that route, so
that all privately held specimens could be properly studied by
paleontologists (e.g., the Maxburg specimen of _Archaeopteryx; the giant
_Spinosaurus_ skull I keep on hearing about; the Fruita heterodontosaur
[which may not be a heterodontosaur]; the complete skull of a head-hunted
_Othnielia_; etc etc).
