Yup, it appears the mainland emu population is practically
indestructible aside from local disappearances from intensely settled
areas - regardless of what Europeans do to them or introduce into their
habitat, as demonstrated by the great "Emu War" of 1932 when an
Australian Army detachment attempted to exterminate them from the
Murchison district of WA with machineguns. In short - the emus won.
