I don't know how much they cost nowadays (it's been a while since I needed 
to buy one) - but a Riker mount is nice.

Essentially a metal or pressboard frame with a pane of glass, that fits over 
a slightly smaller frame with a back, that has Styrofoam in it to place the 
fossils in.  There are 1 or 2 pins on each side of the frames that hook them 
together.  The fossils can be pressed into the foam and are highly visible 
through the glass, and easily accessible (just pull the pins out).
