Then theres "First Frontier" by Diane Carey and James Kirkland in which 
sentient, spacefaring troodontids-descendents zip back in time to try 
to avert the KT extinction event but are thwarted by the OS Star Trek 
crew. Kinda funky to watch Spock and Bones ooh-ing and ah-ing physical 
evidence for theropod endothermy and avian affinities over the 
dissection table while Kirk watches on utterly disinterested...
