Also, larger animals tend to attract quite a bit of attention from
scavengers when they kick the bucket, since it takes extraordinary
circumstances to bury a multi-tonne animal suddenly. Smaller animals can
be quickly engulphed in mud or other soft sediments, thus sparing them
from being pulled apart to get at their giblets.
