I wasn't aware that ancestral archosaurs had this elongated radiale/ulnare too. In crocodylomorphs, this character effectively adds an extra joint to the forelimb, increasing the forelimb's swing. So perhaps the elongated proximal carpus is associated with rapid quadrupedal locomotion.
