Well, it depends on how much it matters to you. You seem pretty upset given
that you're saying it doesn't matter. My own perceptions are those of a
nonscientist. I'm just one of the great mass of the rest of humanity.
I myself am not really attached enough to the term +ACI-ornithology+ACI- to get
vehemently upset about the term itself.
The subject came up on the other bird lists the same way I've repeatedly
seen it come up+ADs- newcomer gets gnashed or confused by the conservatives in
the tug of war going on over the study of birds that I now see has gotten
completely ridiculous. But that can only matter if the perceptions of
amateur birders and the public in general matter.
