You're not the first to have that idea: I remember reading about the different
functions dinosaur tails had on a "Eyewitness Encyclopedia: Dinosaur" (Dorling
Kindersley) which stated that the heavy tail Scelidosaurus had could allow it
to rear up to run from predators, although that seems a bit unlikely on an
armored animal of that size.
