The same could be said for Monet and Degas at extremely productive
points of their careers. It's important to know that Knight's vision was good
enough to make him probably the deadliest draftsman among American animal
artists. The important thing to remember about Knight's visual handicaps was
the fact
that they confined him to museums and zoos to a great extent. And it was at
those places that he discovered animal form and anatomy and was gifted with the
newly discovered fossil forms he so beautifully delineated. DV
