Rugops Rugosities



Just a thought... Rugops had a sheath of some sort. No doubt about that. Was it 
croc-like? Bird-like? A mix? I do not know. one thing I do know is that the 
whole situation   compares quite nicely to what I had said a while back about 
narly-looking *Mujungatholus*. Did Rugops have a crest? Course it did. Was the 
crest keratinous? Was it fleshy? Not sure. My guess is fleshy. But, I know that 
could be wrong. (Those pits are plain and simply odd.)

Something else... Making outer coverings look like the boney surfaces 
underneath. A rugose surface of bone does not necessarily indicate a rugose 
surface of the fleshed out animal. In reality, it usually indicates the direct 
opposite...
