O.C.'s Handwriting
Howdy all.
Would anyone have an example of Othniel Charles Marsh's handwriting or
signature/autograph they could send me?
I have a bank draft from Washington, D.C. with a 2 cent revenue stamp
attached made out to Ch. Woodhouse and signed Charles Marsh and I would
like to compare the handwriting. I would post a scan but computer
problems have disabled my scanner as well as my CD drive. The draft is
dated June 7, 1870 just before the first Yale expedition in July, and I
think it plausable he'd be in D.C. arranging some details for the
upcoming trip ( I haven't been able to trace his travels yet at that
time.) I know Marsh didn't like the name Othniel and prefered to be
called OC (oh see) or Captain. Did he regularly sign just Charles Marsh
or ...?
Thank you.
