Can we be certain that Stromer's measurements were accurate? The type material was obliterated (*sob*), so the dimensions of individual elements are based on Stromer's descriptions alone.

Yes, Stromer's measurements appear to have been accurate. We have a paper in review right now discussing new information regarding the holotype of _S. aegyptiacus_. If the reviewers decide they like it, then we will be able to talk about this more soon.
