Indeed not. But the impact site is composed of thick layers of dolomite
and... anhydrite (CaSO4 x 1/2 H2O).

Why? One should think that what's important is the speed of the collision,
in other words the relative velocity of the meteorite to the Earth, no?
My answer:
In my earlier letter (Let's count 3 Energy balance I) I counted with gipsum
but in another list letter was written sulfur from the meteorit. My opinion
is same as your.
In each type of collision the word velocity is the relative velocity of
bodies. In this situation the effective component of the velocity from the
viewpoint of deformation, heating, rebound is the right angles to Earth
that is the vertical component.
And I'd like to remark for participants of the name dispute:
I counted with CaSO4.2H2O in my earlier letter what is really gipsum.
