Cretaceous oil sands

Good day!
Some time ago, I've read an iteresting article about primeval "oil sands",
dated back to about 100 Ma. These make large regions north of Edmonton in
Alberta. According to the article, there were some finds of cretaceous leaves
which weren't fossilized, but "pickled like a sardine", i.e. unbelievably well
preserved. There was also a speculation that if a dinosaur would be found there
(god knows why there's a mention about Acrocanthosaurus in the article), it
would be as well wonderfully preserved. Does anyone know about this?
Also, another interesting part of the article mentions Alaskan dinosaur finds.
According to it, some dinosaur bones are so "fresh-looking" and "light", they
look like recent bones (or "...bones of a dead dog one week old"). Does anyone
have more info on this? Thanks
