Re: Incisivosaurus gauthieri Translation & Pronunciation



I don't know the rules regarding the pronunciation of a French name which
has been incorporated into an honorary species epithet, but Professor
Jacques Gauthier's family name is pronounced "GO-tee-ay."  Wouldn't the
species name, _gauthieri_, then be pronounced "GO-tee-ay-rye"?  Or is this
another case of non-francophones mangling the French pronunciations, as in
the case of the word, "lingerie," which we English speakers have really
botched.
