      I'm not really up on my biochemistry, but
wouldn't the embryo of an endothermic dinosaur
determine its own sex if it were based on temperature?
It's sort of a chicken and the egg paradox. Either
body temperature varied during ontogeny, from zero as
an embryo to whatever level an adult could attain, or
didn't, and you have a clutch of females (if the
parents didn't find a way to cool the eggs down to the
ambient air temperature).
