But wouldn't the condition in Noasaurus be autapomorphic, thus NOT helping
to place 'velocisaurids' together to its exclusion

I would add that a specialized raptorial pedal ungual appears to be primitive for the Eumaniraptora/Paraves, but was lost, reduced or modified several times in this clade (e.g., by the troodontid _Borogovia_; the dromaeosaurid _Adasaurus; the basal avians _Archaeopteryx_ and _Shenzhouraptor_; pygostylian birds).
