Tyrannosaurus skeletal drawing tail issues
> The tail looks longer than I thought.
46 vertebrae! Isn't that too much?<
Actually, you miss-counted, there are 45, which is within the 40-45 range given
by both Brochu (for sue) and Maleez estimated for _Tarbosaurus_. I chose the
higher value to a) reflect the more basal position within coelurosaurs that
tyrannosaurs ifnd themselves in these days, and b) because otherwise I had to
make the vertebra drop in size more rapidly than seemed plausible. Sue has 36
preserved caudals figured in the manuscript. It should be noted that droping
the last 4 or 5 from my reconstruction does not make the tail substantially
shorter.
For what it is worth, Sue is mounted with 47 cauadals.
