The language itself is rather easy (once you manage the pronunciation, harr
harr). Reading and even more so writing is a sizable problem.

Also useful -- but only for papers from Russia and Mongolia. (And good
Russian style is quite difficult.) It'd help you with Polish, too (when
you've understood Polish orthography), but Acta Pal. Pol. publishes mostly
in English...
Totally unlike Chinese, Russian has a well-developed grammar. Much
like Latin, although with fewer different declensions.
