Just as I was getting over my father's sudden (but not unexpected) death
late last week, you hit me with yet another blow to human scientific
progress and knowledge.

I drove by Chapel Hill, North Carolina, twice along Interstate 95 on my way
to and from my father's funeral in Maryland a few days ago. I doubt that any
arm-waving and histrionics on my part would have had any effect.

Sigh.
