Pycnonemosaurus follow-up
Having read the description of _Pycnonemosaurus_ by Kellner and Campos
(2002), I can add that the paper does not reveal much more than is contained
in the abstract:
http://www.cmnh.org/dinoarch/2003Aug/msg00251.html
The remains are poorly preserved, and associated (unsurprisingly) with some
titanosaur bones. All the material was collected back in 1952/1953! The
_Pycnonemosaurus_ holotype comes from an individual about 6-7m long, judging
rom the length of the tibia. The name "_Pycnonemosaurus_" translates
roughly as "dense forest lizard", an allusion to its discovery in the
Brazilian state of Mato Grosso.
Kellner and Campos (2002) do mention that _Quilmesaurus_ is probably an
abelisaur. Since the _Pycnonemosaurus_ material is so incomplete, it does
not contribute much (OK, nothing at all) to resolving abelisaur
interrelationships. Still, it's a nice record of theropods from the Late
Cretaceous of Brazil.
