Frederick Seyfarth

Another old-timer art alert. Back in the 40's and 50's of the last century if
you were a kid and loved dinosaurs, sooner or later you'd bump into Frederick
Seyfath's beautiful watercolors. He worked for Row Peterson Publishing Co.
and illustrated nature paperbacks for school children written by Bertha Morris
Parker. _Animals of Yesterday_ was for younger students and _Life Through the
Ages_ was for the older. Most of this material was repackaged into Parker's
classic _A Golden Treasury of Natural History_ by Golden Books. I've just
learned
that Seyfarth recently passed away. Here's an article about a memorial
exhibition of his work.

I found his most kick-ass dinosaur illustration - a pair of allosaurs
and a Stegosaurus - below. Scroll down on the page, the crappy bookcover
design was a later edition replacing Seyfarth's original brontosaur painting. DV
