       Considering the close proximity of the specimen to public land, one 
would have hoped the "law abiding collector" would have double-checked with the 
local BLM office before excavating to make sure there would be no "accidents". 
       Map reading and comprehension of signage seem to present problems to 
the commercial collectors who's work I've had the misfortune to encounter in 
the field. DV
