RE: tyrannosaurid feeding ecology

I remember hearing before (onlist, I think) that someone had an argument against the idea of the tail having been bitten by a tyrannosaur. Was this notion ever published somewhere? And can anyone summarize the details of the argument?
Like they say in the army: tanks.
