Crow article
...in Sunday's Washington Post Magazine 8/3/03.
It talks about the disappearance of crows thanks to poison and West Nile
fever. Also mentions crow predation on starlings. I have wondered
whether this might be an interesting natural experiment: have other bird
populations increased because crows are reduced? My guess would be that
crow populations have been massive because of their ability/adaptability
to exploit urban resources (trash!), and that this has exerted greater
predation pressure leading to a silent spring of sorts.
Does anyone know of anyone thinking along these lines?
Thanks.
