Be careful here: there are venomous snakes in Madagascar,
they're just all rear-fanged colubrids. I'm sure you
realized this already, but the phrasing of the question
changes the concept a bit. Models based on migration
bottlenecks are likely correct here, while selection
scenarios (eg. venomous snakes don't do well) are not,
since venomoous forms do just fine.
