Re: Skin Models for Restoring (Theropod) Dinosaurs
For references to _Carnotaurus_ (an Argentinian abelisaur) skin
impressions, see the Dinosaur Mailing list archives, March and April
1998, under such illustrious titles as "Carnotaurus skin impressions
(long)" and "Carnotaurus skin (and more pathetic whining)." The upshot
is that there are some sources of _Carnotaurus_ skin texture images
available - as fossils and as sculptures, but not on line (hence the
"pathetic whining").
For any coelurosaur, consider protofeathers or feathers, as these
structures have been associated with basal coelurosaurs, therizinosaurs,
oviraptorosaurs, and dromaeosaurs. The feet would still be scaled, as
in birds. A <www.google.com> search on "feathered dinosaur" will get
you 8,450 hits. That should give you something to go on. ;^) Even
a google image search at <http://images.google.com> will give you an
eyeful.
