You might wish to contact Jim, and Maureen Parent of the
Institute of Nautical Archaeology in Texas. I did a sub-bottom echo sounding
search in St. Anne's Bay, Jamaica, at least 10 years ago and we found two hard
contacts at just the right place for the two last ships of his final voyage.
They were excavating them under horrendous conditions (inky black silt and
organics as soon ass the bottom was touched). It would be most interesting to
know if they were the ballast piles of two caravels, beached alongside each
other and abandoned there. The Parents called their operation "Columbus Caravel
Archaeological Project".
