Something about myself
I guess by now some of you must be wondering, "Who the hell is this Dino
Rampage guy?? He's always full of questions!!" I suppose a short
self-introduction is in order. I suddenly realised that this may not really
qualify as dinosaur-related, so my apologies to those who think this e-mail
is meaningless.
My real name is Ivan Kwan, and I'm 20 this year. My birthplace and country
of residence is (and will always be) Singapore, a small island state in
South-east Asia (and I can proclaim nwith nationalistic fervour to be the
safest, cleanest, most beautiful, least corrupt, most technologically
advanced country in this region) You should really come visit this lovely
country at least once in your lifetime...
Well anyway, back to myself. I've been crazy over dinosaurs since I was a
little kid, and I dare say I'm the only person on this island who hasn't
grown out of a passion for dinosaurs (and in fact, all things prehistoric)
From a kid who went ooh and ah at those animatronic dinosaurs at the
exhibitions and at The Land Before Time, to the pre-teen who clapped and
swooned over Jurassic Park and the Dinosaur World Tour, to the young adult
who engages in prehistoric art in my free time, dinosaurs have always been a
part of my life. Right now, paleoart is my main focus. Drawing dinosaurs
always makes me excited; there's the part about colouration, feathers,
dermal covering and all that, but my art is still quite crappy. I can't do
shadows, I can't really do scaly textures, and my dinosaurs always look flat
and 2-dimensional. Worse still, I cannot do backgrounds or scenery, and all
my drawings are mostly a profile of the head from the left side!! Still, I
try.
While I love dinosaurs in general, the folowing are areas where I'm
especially interested in:
Theropods, especially coelophysians, torvosaurs, spinosaurs, carnosaurs,
tyranosaurs, ornithomimids, dromaeosaurs, troodontids and oviraptorosaurs,
sauropods (especially diplodocimorphs, brachiosaurs & titanosaurs),
ankylosaurs (which I can never draw well), iguanodonts and hadrosaurs,
pachycephalosaurs and my favourite dinosaurs of all time, the ceratopsids.
My other fields of prehistoric interest include the Ice Ages, terror birds,
and the Pliocene and Pleistocene fauna of Eurasia & Africa.
Well, before I get accused f talking too much, guess I'd better stop now.
Before I go, I'd just like to say one thing: this list really rocks!
P.S I know this wasn't very dinosaur-related, and I apologise :-)
