Yes you're right, and indeed, Ursula B. Göhlich & Gerald Mayr, 2001: Zu
Besuch bei _Confuciusornis_ & Co. in Nordost-China: Natur und Museum 131:
401-409 spell the species name chuanzhous. I do not know the ICZN 1999 rules
on this subject, but my opinion is simple: It was described as _C.
chuonzhous, so that is the name.

Well that's very interesting. I know Luis M. Chiappe, Ji Shu'an, Ji Qiang &
Marc A. Norell, 1999: Anatomy and Systematics of the Confuciusornithidae
(Theropoda: Aves) from the Late Mesozoic of Northeastern China: Bulletin of
the American Museum of Natural History 242: 3-89 placed both species in
synonymy with _C. sanctus_. But this is not agreed upon as stated by Ursula
B. Göhlich & Gerald Mayr, 2001 who speak of 4 species of the genus
Confuciusornis (this must be _C. sanctus_, _C. chuonzhous_, _C. suniae_ and
_C.dui_, FR).
In view of my reaction to this discussion this is not important, the only
thing that is important is that the pictures are the types of the species
(fallen in synonymy or not).
