Evolution of Flight and other educational stuff

Kind readers,

Please pardon the cross postings.

The UCMP web site has much to offer in the way of interactive
educational modules. The Explorations Through Time modules are
particularly well done. See
<www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/education/explotime.html>. "Adventures at Dry
Creek" introduces students to the study of microfossils, based on an
actual dig site in Montana, and the brand new "Evolution of Flight"
looks into the evidence supporting the theropod origin of birds and the
development of avian flight.

At the conclusion of "Evolution of Flight," there is an interview with
Kevin Padian, which includes Gatesy and Gishlick's animation of
maniraptoran arm reaching action and Ken Dial's quick time film of the
wing assisted vertical running of a young quail! Definitely worth a
look.
