So much we do not know, thanks to the fragmentary nature of what
evidence we do have. I have heard it said (on another thread) that
dromæosaurid remains are pretty much a dime a dozen, yet that very
thing makes them a treasure of great value, because we can compare
specimens for variations between individuals, instead of having but a
single specimen of a species (or even an entire genus) to study. For
all we know, the single specimen of a feathered dinosaur species
could very well have been wearing display plumage at the time of
death.
Why Life can't show us the courtesy of preserving the specimens we
need is annoying.:)
