I always felt that, where there is no good reason to change or omit
details, they should be left as they are. If you want a new killer
dino, find one that's suitable & don't twist one to fit your idea of
what a "cool dinosaur" should look like. There are plenty of
interesting big & not-so-big predatory dinosaurs out there that would
have made wonderful new "villains" for JP.
On the same note - what good reason is there for the mega-Stegs in JP2?
Were these creatures not impressive enough already without slapping a
few extra tonnes on?

It all smacks of a lack of interest in the subject & a conviction that
the public just wants bigger & bigger dinosaurs.

Maybe they're right...
