It's not just Horner on this one, it's the producers as well. I was watching the DVD a few days ago. I like the fact that the T.rex pretty much dominates the battle. The Spino just gets a lucky shot in toward the end. The producers decided that since T.rex was the star of the first two films, they needed a new big bad-ass villian for the third outing. Horner suggested Spinosaurus. Horner also talks about Spino having an eight foot skull and being over 60 feet long, making Spinosaurus the largest theropod known. Is there an upcoming paper to report this find? The producers decided that the best way to get their new big bad-ass villian "over", to use wrestling vernacular, was to have him take down the champ. Sadly there was a rumor going around the web that a second battle was to take place toward the end where the dead T.rex's mate kills the Spino in revenge. It's a shame it didn't happen. Overa!

, I liked the film in spite of it's flaws. My only real complaint is the Billy character. Here we have a paleontology grad student who can't tell the difference between Suchomimus, Baryonyx, and Spinosaurus. For cryin' out loud, I'm a layman and I can tell them apart. Seems like Billy needs to spend more time hitting the books and less time trying to swipe raptor(or is it Deinonychus?) eggs...
