If you take the time to download everything needed for this Devonian
simulation (I had to download the latest Shockwave software - Internet
Explorer did it automatically) you'll find it more than worth the wait.
The textures on the animals (and the sea bed!) are great, and the
animation is first class. Keep in mind I looked at the low-end version,
so I can imagine what the whiz-bang version is like. It's the closest
thing you'll get to being there.

I spent about ten minutes exploring the sea bed, getting (extremely) up
close and personal with the beasties. By clicking on the animals as they
swim by you get a brief description of them. But be warned - some of
them are hard to catch!
