Both Don Shay (Cinefex) and George Turner (_The Making of King Kong_)
mention Cooper's unsuccessful attempt to obtain financial backing from MGM
and Paramount for an expedition to Africa and Komodo to film gorillas
fighting dragons. This would be prior to Cooper meeting O'Brien in late 1931
at RKO, correct? Or is this story apocryphal? DV
