Operation Migration return flight - on their own
Those of us who were closely following the whooping crane migration led by
ultra-light aircraft last fall are pleased that the whooping cranes started
their northerly migration on their own this spring. See:
http://www.operationmigration.org/field_2002_spr.html
Five of the original seven whooping cranes are making the trip of their own
volition and instinct. (Two of the birds were unfortunately killed by
bobcats this winter.) The flock has covered 328 miles in two flight days and
were in Henry County, Georgia this morning, though were soon airborne.
