Re: SIMILAR BIRD TRACKS 70 MILLION YEARS APART
Ken,
Thanks for your further comments. I didn't think for a minute that you
were trying to discourage me from doing a paper on the bird tracks, and
fully agree that any comparison with the Green River Formation tracks should
not constitute the thrust of the paper. Your insight and suggestions are
definitely appreciated.
Right now, I'm working on a paper describing hatchling sauropod tracks
from Texas and comparing them to the formally almost identical (but much
larger) sauropod tracks from the Paluxy River bed. I live in the
Washington, D.C., area of Maryland, and recent events and worry about
potential future ones are admittedly a distraction, but the unprecedented
subject of the paper should make the struggle to attend to the task
worthwhile.
Thanks, also, to list member Mike Taylor (who has seen the sauropod
hatchling tracks first-hand) for his persistent encouragement. Likewise to
the professionals who have agreed to read the first draft, criticize it, and
make suggestions, and to Patrick for gently stressing the importance of
leaving a written record for posterity.
