\uc1\pard\plain\deftab360 \f0\fs20\cf0 Just my last post about the subject before it gets too far off-topic : there is the pdf format that DOES protect the document ( even if it is not 100% unfalsifiable, it is VERY hard to break, French admins use it for offical documents online ). AFAIK, a lot of the scientific litterature on the web is in pdf format and thus protected. Now, back to dinosaurs...\par

It's straightforward to maintain an encryption scheme for the stored\par
papers that makes them very hard to modify on the site.\par
\par
Whether or not this will be done is the relevant question, not *if* it\par
can be done. Electronic document security is a solved problem; the\par
problem is convience tends to push down the willingness to implement the\par
solution.\par
\par
('hacker' isn't a label for doing something illegal; 'hacker' is a\par
term for being a creative programmer, in that social group.\par
Unfortunately, the term gets used by the media for 'computer criminal'.\par
This annoys the first group rather much.)\par
