Arundel Problem and solutions
Hi Everyone,
I promise to not keep emailing out blanket thank you's to everone and this is
my last such thank you. So thanks to the latest group of kind souls who fired
off an email to the principals involved in this burgeoning fiasco!
What I am preparing to do, is print out every freaking email individuals of
the assembled mind were kind enough to send to my governor, his minions and
myself, and send them along _again_ ala snail mail with another warm letter
from myself as per Dr. Holtz's suggestion. Ditto for those off line notes of
support unless anyone has objections. Please do so before the end of the
week. I have also, placed a long distance call to the owner of the quarry,
exhorting him to not deal with the DNR/Md., Gov under the current situation,
pointing out to him that nearly the "entire" paleo community is opposed to
this (as currently billed) and that his and our needs would best be served by
dealing with the Paleobiological Fund. Hopefully, this puts some hesitation
in his mind.
I also want to point out to the assembeld mind that I have heard off the
grapevine that unless .."we present a unified front" <sic>, regarding the
"saving" of this site, the state of Maryland and DNR might be forced to back
out not wishing to be embroiled in controversey.
I say to hell with them and boil them until they see it our way! Controversey
is exactly what I seek, at least and until, my concerns and our concerns are
addressed to our satisfaction!
Keep up the pressure! Pass this around to your friends and onto other mailing
lists and news groups.
Keep in mind one thing though. The Dinosaur Park is a go and I am not oppsoed
to this. Their property abuts my site and anyone who attended Dinofest in
Philly back in 1998 may ave seen the "planned site". Even back then, when
the current operators had assured me that there was going to be "no deal"
regarding this, a certain someone had essentially sold this idea to the
politicans as a done deal.
What I don't wish to see is their "acquiring" my site as _part_ of said park
for the reasons enumerated by me in many previous posts. That is the core
issue. They can and will still have their kiddie park but hopefully without
my site! I have presented a viable alternative which gives everyone the best
of both worlds but they don't seem to give a rat's ass what I think. This
does not surprise me....
Thanks to everyone!
