Re: Possible Skin of Tyrannosaurids
From: "Larry Dunn" <saurosuchus@hotmail.com>
If Tyrannosaurids evolved from smaller coelurosaurs that were covered with
downy fibers, and may have been secondarily featherless, is it probable
that
they were not scaly after all, but rather largely wrinkly-skinned, with
scales limited to their heads and legs?
I seem to recall some recent reports on tyrannosaurid skin impressions
stating that the skin wasn't pebbled or scaly at all, but rather, it was
nearly featureless, something like the 'wrinkly' skin Larry mentioned. Has
any more light been shed in these reports? Paleo-buffs everywhere wanna
know!
