Re: JPIII: unmitigated rubbish

Yea the scientific acurracy was lacking ( to put it mildly) but that movie was not about scientific accuracy, it was about making money and making the lay people go " Ohhhh what a pretty dinosaur "

I doubt there ever will be a film that is made to inform the public, 2.5' tall . feathered velociraptors, and narrow snouted fish eaters just don't bring in money.WWD wasent made to inform,  notice those JP ads every 5 minutes or so...

the worst part about this  is that most people take what they see in movies as fact, I'm a sophmore in high school and I remember a person citing Jurassic park as a source on their dinosaur research paper....

And it doesn't even have the pedigree of "Plan 9 of Out of Space" or "Glenn or Glenda?"!
> ...same old twee storyline about divorced parents and the all-American family, same old utterly absurd depictions of animal behaviour. All in all, typical modern Hollywood nonsense.
Indeed Darren, but considering that conservatives are trying to pass bills in the American Congress for the return of creationism using as an excuse the song "You and me baby ain'tnothing but mammals so let's do it like they do in the Discovery Channel!" (...and also a bill against condoms and promoting abstinence as the valid way of Family Planning as reported by the Herald Tribune yesterday!) , effectively trying to turn the clock back 200 years... well, they (we?) must have a bigger, global problem there and the new Jurassic Park captures well the mediocrity of the moment.

Again right to the point. If anyone wants to really know how BAD is the JP3 Spinosaurus reconstruction, just have a look at the new Berislav Krzic Dinopress article on Spinosaurus and its graphic comparison between those incredibly narrow and delicate spinosaurid snouts. Excellent source.
> If you looked carefully at the three brachiosaurs which approached the boat (also the ankylosaurs at the riverside), the animation and rendering were awful - more like WWD than JP! Many of the animals looked way too glossy for their environments
I call it the New Wallpaper Dinosaur Syndrome. Once you have seen one... you have seen all!
