Well, last night Dinogeorge, Mike Ryan and a couple of his friends and I went and saw JP3. First comment I have is, that was ILM? It looked like 3rd string ILM. The movie, for what its worth, was kind of fun. Sure, pteranodons (er pterodons) had teeth (why? Wouldn’t it have been much easier not to put all those pointed objects in the mouth?), the Velicraptors were to big (but I did like the way they moved and the coloring) and the ankylosaurs were totally wrong (nice to see them get some air time) and a few other things.

I guess we can’t get to upset with the movie. They did do typical movie things like cold start the plane, everything needed to work when it did. And, wouldn’t it be a good commercial for the cellular phone by stating that it went through the intestinal track of a spinosaur and kept working?

Lets not forget all the other movies they used. 1 million BC for dropping the kid on to a pteranodon nest, Dinosaurus for the crane, Lost world for the Spinosaur/Tyranosaur fight (not the original, but the one that tortured the reptiles), Jaws, for the Spinosaur swimming, Peter Pan for the cellular phone instead of the clock in the croc. And I’m sure there are others.

Until they get it right, or as close has humanly possible, and paleontologist get to go on the island and (well, Tom has already posted on what would happen) we’ll just have to enjoy them for what they are, just monster movies.
