I believe this hypothesis gets us into the "absence of
evidence is not evidence of absence" snare: first, we
can't be sure that non-avian dinosaurs didn't shelter
their eggs/hatchlings from adverse weather and
temperatures. If anything, it seems more probable to
me that this would have such great survival value that
it would have evolved very early in dinosaurian
behavior. Secondly, the supposition that raptors could
not shelter their clutches in this way because of a
lack of feathers seems even more unlikely, considering
the spate of new feathered non avian dinos that have
been uncovered.
