Dear List,
Three of my designs were in this
movie. Two were actually really good. The CGI people copied my Zuniceratops and
Triceratops almost exactly. I thought that they were the most accurate and
believable dinosaurs in the whole movie. ( Hell yes I'm biased! my name's
in the closing credits.)
Unfortuneately I can't say the
same for the Quetzalcoatlus. Their version looked like a beaked earthworm
wearing a really bad toupee. I sent them two sculptures, based on the most
accurate reference then available. I guess the sculptures were
misplaced.
Everyone is right about one
thing. It was un-intentionally funny. The stegosaurus love scene was only
missing a gleam in the male's eye and Marvin Gaye on the turntable to be
complete. The part with the mom t-rex and the teens was a scream. It really
looked like she was having a parental meltdown and was about to start handing
out ass-wuppens'. " If I have to tell you one more time to pick up your clothes,
I'm going to ground you 'til you're thirty!" Also, the closing narration was
cheesey enough to be in a French bakery.
On another note, I personally
thought the animation was better than WWD, although the cinimatography wasn't.
The narration was also less monotonous than WWD ( either version). Over all I
think it was a well made "Documentary". Regarding the movie's
flaws, at least they knew that an allosaur's lacrimal goes in front of the eye,
not on top.
